Joseph Garner Headshot - Blue.jpg

Born in the St. Louis Metro area, I always had an interest in the arts.  I participated in theatre through elementary and high school before attending Southern Illinois University – Edwardsville, where I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Performance.  Following graduation, I worked with some of the finest theatres in St. Louis, including New Line Theatre, the NonProphets, St. Louis Actors Studio, and the Repertory Theatre of St. Louis.

A few years later I packed my bags to move to New York to continue pursuing my career.  While performing in shows around the city, I was lucky enough to start training in a field in which I have always been interested - puppetry.  As time went on, I have been able to expand upon both my acting and puppetry, and I have been fortunate enough to work with such great companies as the American Theatre of Actors, Drama of Works, the Czechoslovakian-American Marionette Theatre, and the Atlantic Theatre Company among others.  I also was a resident puppeteer at the Swedish Cottage Marionette Theatre in Central Park alongside whatever other opportunities came along before recently returning to my home in the St. Louis area.

Outside of the theatre, I am a big sports fan (go Cardinals, Blues, and Illini!), I love classic literature (especially Russian Realism), I can definitely get engrossed in a video game if presented the chance, and I am a strong supporter of the Be the Match® Foundation for the National Bone Marrow Registry (sign up today at marrow.org).  However, outside of the theatre the greatest loves of my life are my significant other, Jordon, and our daughters - Cressida, Desi, and Imogen!

Now that you know a bit more about me, please take a look at my resume, photos, and news or feel free to contact me with any questions or opportunities you may have.
